OK, here's the deal. . . Every Mexican dinner typically comes with beans, yeah? Well, instead of buying the canned ones, that look something like you would see come out of a slop container, you can make your own! And yes, it's easy.
The hardest part about this is getting the beans processed. We put them in our Ninja to begin with, but that wasn't the greatest idea, as they didn't exactly get ground up. The Ninja sounded like it was trying to take off for outer space. So, we used the old fashioned mill my husband got from his dad (this thing is old). That did the trick! It took a little while, but once we had our three cups of beans ground up we added the seasonings.
This recipe says 3/4 cup of beans to 2 1/2 cups of water, boil and simmer for 5 minutes. This didn't produce the result we were hoping for. At the end of the simmer time the beans were still tough, so we let them go for 20 minutes. I'm not sure if we ground the beans up enough. So, after we tried them a second time, I threw them in the Ninja again.
The second go round with the Ninja yielded a more powered bean, and I'm hoping that it works better.

Have you tried making your own foods like this? These beans taste much better than the store bought ones, and you have the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself! Beans last quite a while, ground up or not, so why not try different things with them? I would love to hear from you!!!
